TransferWise raises USD 58 million

UK m-banking company TransferWise, which offers an online foreign exchange service, has raised USD 58 million in a Series C round led by Andreessen Horowitz investment fund A16Z, the Guardian reports. The operation is thought to value TransferWise at nearly USD 1 billion and follows UK-based Shazam, which became the latest British startup to hit a USD 1 billion valuation when it raised USD 30 million earlier this month. TransferWise uses an element of Peer-to-Peer funding to keep costs down. It will use the investment to accelerate its global expansion, opening an US office in February,
