Trend Micro, Docomo to launch security service for IoT devices

Wednesday 12 June 2019 | 08:24 CET | News
SmarTone Japanese operator NTT Docomo will launch a service designed to protect IoT devices running on its mobile network using Trend Micro’s security platform. Protection will be enabled by the Docomo Cloud Platform Network Security Service. The security shield will mainly target Docomo’s customers who are building infrastructure-as-a-service environments.

Until now, deploying a security service on the Docomo Cloud Platform required customers to set up third-party products manually. This new service simplifies the deployment of security onto the Docomo Cloud Platform.

The service is powered by Trend Micro’s Virtual Network Function Suite (VNFS), tested in the  Docomo 5G Open Cloud in 2018. Trend Micro’s VNFS platform aims to offer service providers intrusion prevention, URL filtering and application control to mitigate threats across their networks. Underlying threat intelligence is also provided by Trend Micro, which analyzes 1.5 billion new threat samples and blocks 250 million threats every 24 hours, Trend Micro said.
