Tricom announces triple-play device, USD 67 mln investment

Dominican operator Tricom, recently acquired by cable group Altice, has announced the launch of a new all-in-one device, dubbed Tricom SmartBox, giving users triple-play access to HD TV, voice services and broadband at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Presenting the new device, Altice CEO in the Dominican Republic, Abdelhakim Boubazine, said the SmartBox would offer users "unprecedented" advantages as well as a series of convergent packages at prices "up to 80 percent lower than the current market average." Boubazine also announced that Altice would be investing some USD 67.2 million this year to
