Turkcell submits bid to buy TeliaSonera's Fintur stake

Turkcell plans to proceed with its effort to buy the stake owned by TeliaSonera in their wireless JV operating in former Soviet nations, Fintur Holdings, according to Bloomberg citing Turkcell CEO Kaan Terzioglu. He spoke in an interview in Istanbul on 9 February. A non-binding bid was made for the 58.55 percent stake in Fintur Holdings that Turkcell doesn't own. The company will follow with another offer after completing due diligence. At present, Turkcell owns a 41.45 percent stake in Fintur, which has operations in four countries, namely Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Moldova.
