Twitter acquires group chat app Sphere

Friday 22 October 2021 | 10:24 CET | News
Twitter has acquired a group-focused messaging service called Sphere for an undisclosed amount. The London-based app was co-founded in 2016 by British entrepreneur Nick D'Aloisio, who sold the mobile app Summly to Yahoo for USD 30 million back in 2013 when he was 17. In a blog post, Sphere said the deal is expected to close in November and its 20-member team will be joining Twitter to help the latter's Communities, Direct Messages and Creators initiatives.
