Twitter flaw allowed targeted advertising using two-factor authentication emails, numbers

Twitter said it may have used the emails or phone numbers provided by its users for its two-factor authentication, for targeted advertising purposes, specifically in its Tailored Audiences and Partner Audiences advertising system. Twitter apologised for the error which it said was inadvertent. The company added that the issue was fixed on 17 September.
