Twitter relaxes 140-character limit in tweets

Twitter has confirmed changes to its limit of 140 characters in a tweet. When replying to a tweet, @names will no longer count toward the 140-character limit. Also media attachments like photos, GIFs, videos, polls or Quote Tweets will not count as characters in a tweet. In addition, Twitter is allowing users to retweet their own tweets now and is eliminating the @ symbol at the start of tweets. New tweets that begin with a username will reach all the user's followers, without the @ sign, and users will be able to retweet a reply so it's viewed more broadly.
