Twitter sold data to Cambridge Analytica-linked academic

Twitter has announced that it has removed political consultancy Cambridge Analytica and affiliated entities as advertisers after the Telegraph revealed that it sold data to Aleksandr Kogan, the Cambridge University academic linked to the consultancy. Kogan, who created the personality quiz on Facebook to harvest information later used by Cambridge Analytica, was granted access to public Twitter data back in 2015 via his own firm Global Science Research (GSR), said the report.
