Twitter tells users to change password after discovering security hole

Twitter has advised all its users to change their password after detecting a security vulnerability in its systems. The company said it recently identified a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log. It has fixed the bug, and an investigation found no indication of breach or misuse.

"Out of an abundance of caution", the company is still asking users to change their password. Twitter said it was "very sorry this happened" and was "committed to earning" the trust its users.

Desondanks adviseert Twitter alle gebruikers om hun wachtwoord uit voorzorg toch te veranderen.

Twitter sold data to Cambridge Analytica-linked academic

Twitter has announced that it has removed political consultancy Cambridge Analytica and affiliated entities as advertisers after the Telegraph revealed that it sold data to Aleksandr Kogan, the Cambridge University academic linked to the consultancy. Twitter Q1 profit beats expectations, revenues grow 21%

Twitter reported a strong start to 2018, with better-than-expected profits and a return to sequential growth in users in the first quarter. Revenues rose 21 percent year-on-year to USD 665 million, with the company saying sales increased across all products and geographies. Video was the fastest growing ad format and accounted for over half of ad revenues.

Twitter chief information security officer to begin new security startup

Michael Coates, the chief information security officer at Twitter, will be leaving the company, the Verge reported. Coates joined the company in January 2015 and now wants to start his own company, a security startup. The move was announced internally last month, and Coates has now confirmed the decision.
