Twitter to close Belgian office

Tuesday 1 November 2016 | 10:27 CET | News
Twitter is closing its office in Belgium. Open just two years, the office employs three people working mainly on attracting advertisers to the messaging service. According to the paper De Morgen, the staff were informed by email of the planned closure. Belgian country manager Bert Marievoet declined to comment. The news follows Twitter's recent announcement of a planned 9 percent cut in its workforce, in order to reduce costs and move the company towards profitability. Offices in Germany and the Netherlands are also expected to close.
