Twitter trialling labels for 'harmfully misleading' tweets

Twitter is testing a new approach to flagging what it describes as "harmfully misleading" tweets from politicians and public figures with brightly coloured labels, reports NBC News. According to a leaked demo of the new "Wikipedia-like" feature, disinformation or misleading information posted by public figures would be corrected directly beneath a tweet by community-verified fact checkers and journalists. The demo features bright red and orange badges for tweets that are deemed "harmfully misleading" displayed prominently directly below the post in question, said the report.
