UAE to import cars with eCall system from start of 2019

Tuesday 10 October 2017 | 10:39 CET | News
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), in cooperation with Abu Dhabi and Dubai Police, have announced the approval of a number of emergency centres in the UAE to support the eCall system for automatic calls in the event of traffic accidents. This follows approval of the readiness of the telecom networks in 2015 and makes the UAE the first country in the Middle East to implement the initiative on this scale. All new vehicles imported to the UAE will be equipped with a smart feature for automatic communication in the event of accidents from the beginning of 2019.
