Uber goes live in Pakistan

Uber Technologies has launched its ride-hailing app in Pakistan. The Uber service will initially be available in the city of Lahore. Due to the security situation in Pakistan, Uber said it has built-in extra layers of screening into the driver selection process, the WSJ reports. In addition to personnel and car identification documents, potential drivers must submit a police verification certificate and a character certificate from a referrer.
