Uber taps Airtel for m-payments, Wi-Fi services

Taxi app Uber entered into a strategic partnership with Indian operator Bharti Airtel to provide Uber end-users with free 4G Wifi in Uber cabs starting with Mumbai on 22 August and to an additional payment option Airtel money on the app, according Indian publication Economic Times. Drivers are offered subsidised mobile devices and data plans, the company said. The drivers' 4G/LTE enabled handsets on iOS or Android can double as a WiFi hotspot. To connect to the internet, end-users need to click on 'UberWiFi' as an option.
