Ucom leads first Netflix speed index in Japan
Netflix has released its first ISP speed index for Japan, following the streaming service's launch in the country last month. Japan came 11th out of all Netflix countries with an average download speed of 3.62 Mbps. Ucom was the fastest provider with an average speed of 3.99 Mbps, followed by K-Opticom with 3.88 Mbps, So-net at 3.85 Mbps and Asahi Net and NTTPC InfoSphere each at 3.81 Mbps. NTT came 7th with an average peed of 3.73 Mbps, IIJ was in eighth place at 3.70 Mbps, Softbank scored 12th at 3.54 Mbps and KDDI was 13th place with 3.51 Mbps. In total Netflix measured 16 ISPs in Japan.

Netherlands tops Netflix speed index in February

The Netherlands has come out top for the first time in Netflix's latest global speed index for February. On average Dutch ISPs delivered the streaming video service at a speed of 4.04 Mbps, up from 3.96 Mbps the previous month and the highest score for the country since October 2013. Belgium and Luxembourg shared second place with an average speed of 3.92 Mbps, down from over 4 Mbps for each in January.

Denmark joins top-3 in Netflix speed index

Denmark moved into the top-three fastest countries in the Netflix speed index for November. Belgium remains the fastest, at an average 4.12 Mbps to deliver the Netflix streaming service, followed by Luxembourg at 4.10 Mbps. Denmark at an average 3.97 Mbps overtook the Netherlands at 3.95 Mbps, down from 4.02 Mbps the previous month. SoftBank, Netflix strike partnership agreement in Japan

Japanese operator SoftBank and internet TV network Netflix have announced that SoftBank will exclusively offer a fully integrated Netflix experience, including billing, when Netflix Japan launches on 2 September. Netflix has also announced monthly pricing for the Japanese market. Customers will be able to opt for the Basic, Standard or Premium Plan for a starting price of JPY 650.

Netflix has confirmed its launch in Asia, with the streaming video service set to start in Japan 02 September.
