Uganda says wants win-win before renewing MTN licence

Wednesday 30 January 2019 | 15:01 CET | News
The Ugandan government says it is seeking a win-win before it can fully renew MTN's licence, reports the Daily Monitor, citing ICT Minister Frank Tumwebaze. The negotiations for the renewal have been ongoing since August in 2018 when MTN reapplied to renew its 20-year licence, which expired in October 2018. Tumwebaze said when MTN first got its licence 20 years ago, the market was small and tradable communication products were limited, adding that the market is now much bigger.
