UK album charts to include streamed music from March

Streamed music on websites such as Spotify and Deezer will start being counted in the UK album charts starting in March, announced Official Charts. Streamed music has been included in singles charts since July 2014. There were 14.8 billion music tracks streamed in the UK in 2014, from 7.5 billion in 2013 and 3.7 billion a year earlier, according to data from the British Phonographic Industry. The chart company's CEO, Martin Talbot, told the BBC that the streamed album data would not make a significant initial impact, creating "an uplift of about 10 percent in the Top 40".
