UK govt invites applications for local fibre broadband network fund

The UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport is now inviting applications from public bodies for funding from the new GBP 190 million Gigabit broadband fund

The Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) Challenge programme is part of more than GBP 1 billion in spending announced by the government in 2016 to promote full-fibre and mobile network roll-out across the UK.

The projects supported by the LFFN fund will enable Gigabit-capable connections to key public buildings and businesses, with the hope that this leads to broadband providers rolling out additional connections to local homes and businesses.
