UK govt moves to make switching suppliers easier

The UK Government plans to make it easier and quicker for consumers to switch provides across a range of sectors. The proposals could allow for customers to switch provider in a week or less. The Government is asking consumers and industry for evidence of how these proposals could be implemented and new rules could be in place as early as 2017. Under the new proposals, mobile customers will be able to unlock their phone at the end of the contract for free after an agreement was reached with major mobile providers. It is estimated that mobile phone users spend GBP 48 million a year unlocking
