UK govt pushes Ofcom, BT for deal on Openreach - report

The UK government is pushing Ofcom and BT to reach a settlement over the status of Openreach, BT's wholesale networks arm, before the European Commission becomes involved, The Daily Telegraph reported. Ofcom is preparing to send its proposal for a fully independent Openreach to the EC in the coming weeks. According to the Telegraph's sources, governments ministers have expressed growing frustration in meetings with the company, investors and the regulator at the failure to agree a new structure for Openreach.
