UK local authorities urge swift action on broadband law

The UK's Local Government Association (LGA) called for the Universal Service Obligation (USO) initiative to be enshrined in national law in order to to stop hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses falling into a 'digital twilight zone'. Official figures show up to 1 million households will be unable to access a 10 Mbps service by 2017 and the LGA demanded a timetable for action following the recent government reshuffle.
