UK local councils fail to exploit M2M benefits

Local councils in the UK are missing out of potential savings of more than GBP 400 million by failing to exploit the benefits of M2M technologies, according to new research by Vodafone. The research found that two thirds (67%) of urban councillors are not familiar with M2M, explaining why this technology is yet to be widely used to improve public services such as street lighting, refuse collection, urban traffic and transport management.
