UK music streaming sales up 69% in 2015 - BPI

UK music industry sales from audio streaming services reached GBP 146.1 million in 2015, up 69 percent from 2014, with streaming plays up 82 percent to 27 billion, according to the latest report from industry group BPI. However, an even larger 88 percent rise in video streaming generated only a 0.4 percent increase in revenue from pure ad-funded platforms (principally music videos streamed on YouTube) to GBP 24.4 million. UK music fans generated 26.9 billion video streams in 2015 (up 88%), making the streaming total in 2015 at 53.7 billion plays.
