UK must overhaul planning laws for 5G networks - Dunne

Former O2 UK CEO Ronan Dunne has called on the UK Government to overhaul complicated planning regulations for new telecoms masts, reports The Telegraph. Speaking to the Financial Times ahead of his move to Verizon Wireless, Dunne said that the 'old industrial policy' was holding the UK back in the development of 5G networks, adding that London alone might need up to 500,000 mobile masts for next-generation 5G. Dunne said the Government has been focused on installing underground fibre cables to improve broadband speeds, adding that this debate about whether to install fibre-optic cables was
