UK poised to reject BT rural broadband plans - report

The UK government is poised to reject BT's plan to connect 1.1 million rural homes to superfast broadband, the Financial Times reported, with sources saying it would rather give those homes the legal right to get an upgrade of at least 10 Mbps by 2020. BT recently said that 1.1 million homes and offices still do not receive basic broadband. The parties had hoped to agree a GBP 600 million voluntary investment in new technology by Openreach.
