UK publishes map of publicly-owned infrastructure

The UK government has published a map of publicly-owned digital infrastructure and is making available more than 13,000 miles of networks to boost access to superfast broadband in currently underserved parts of the country. The government spends over GBP 1.5 billion of tax revenues annually on public sector networks, including cables, fibre optics and signal masts, but has not published information on the infrastructure comprehensively until now. Spare capacity is not being used efficiently as public sector organisations have developed duplicate and expensive networks and technology. The
