UOKiK extends Multimedia Polska, UPC Poland merger process

Polish anti-monopoly authority UOKiK has moved to the second stage of the procedure concerning the acquisition of Multimedia Polska by UPC Poland. Analysis by the authority has shown that in many municipalities, the joint share of UPC and Multimedia Polska exceeds 40 percent for the pay TV and internet market, a threshold which the competition law assumes is a dominant position. UOKiK believes the concentration may limit competition and has therefore extended the procedure. The extension does not prejudge any future decision.
