Up to 800 TIM workers to take early retirement this year

Tuesday 28 June 2016 | 11:56 CET | News
Around 98 percent of eligible Telecom Italia (TIM) workers signed up to the company's early retirement plan in the first half of the year, according to an unnamed source cited by Reuters. The plan was launched following the pension reforms of the Monti technocratic government, with article 4 of the so-called Fornero Law allowing workers to retire four years early with the company liable for the costs. As a result, some 350 Telecom Italia workers will take early retirement before 30 June, with the figure rising to 750-800 by the end of the year, said the source.
