UPC names former KPN exec to head Dutch operation

Liberty Global has appointed Baptiest Coopmans the managing director at UPC Netherlands. Coopmans succeeds Robert Dunn, who will become the CFO of Virgin Media in June, when Liberty Global is expected to complete its takeover of the UK cable operator.

Coopmans was a member of Dutch incumbent KPN's management board from 2006 to 2012 and worked as managing director KPN Netherlands and managing director Consumer Market. Once considered a candidate for CEO at KPN, he left the company in 2012 after a management shake-up. At UPC, Coopmans will report to Diederik Karsten, head of European broadband operations and the former MD of UPC Netherlands before Dunn.

Dunn succeeds Virgin Media CFO Eamonn O'Hare and will report to the new CEO of Virgin Media, Tom Mockridge. He has headed the Dutch operation since early 2011, and prior to that was MD of UPC Ireland since 2006.
