UPC to offer free digital pack to analogue customers

UPC Netherlands announced it will start offering its basic digital TV package unencrypted, allowing its analogue customers to use the service without a change in hardware. Customers still need a TV with a built-in DVB-C tuner, but UPC said this is standard in around 90 percent of the TVs sold in the Netherlands. An estimated 40 percent of all UPC customers already have such a TV. The basic package includes the 29 most popular channels and 12 regional and local channels. The public channels Nederland 1, 2 and 3 will be available in HD. The price of the analogue package will be unchanged. UPC
