Uruguay to slash operator interconnection fees by 60%

Tuesday 29 June 2021 | 11:44 CET | News
Uruguay's communications regulator Ursec has decided to drastically cut the wholesale rates charged by the country's MNOs to rival operators to terminate calls on their networks. The 60 percent cut in the interconnection fees between Antel, Claro and Movistar will result in a USD 6.5 million annual loss for state-owned operator Antel, reports Telesemana, citing the latter's president Gabriel Gurmendez, who confirmed the company's intention to appeal the decision.
