US appeals court rules for Charter against Minnesota, backing FCC fight against state challenges to net neutrality

Monday 10 September 2018 | 12:54 CET | News
The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit has ruled for Charter Communications in its case against the state of Minnesota, over attempts to regulate the company's VoIP phone service, Multichannel News reported. The case comes from Charter separating its Spectrum Voice service from its regulated wholesale telecommunications operations, calling the service an "information service" Deadline.com reported. This led the Minnesota Department of Commerce to file a complaint with the state's Public Utilities Commission, accusing Charter of violating various state laws.
