US bill would release USD 700 mln to help carriers replace Chinese equipment

Up to USD 700 million may be made available to US operators needing help to replace telecom equipment bought from Huawei and other banned Chinese companies, the Wall Street Journal reported. Senators Roger Wicker of Mississippi, the Republican chairman of the Commerce Committee, and Mark Warner of Virgina, the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, introduced the bill, along with others. The bill establishes a policy that US 5G networks should not include equipment or services provided by Huawei or ZTE, according to a summary. It goes beyond measures announced by the Trump administration
