US cablers slow TV customer losses in 2015

The top US cable providers had their best year since 2006 in mitigating customer losses in 2015, with about 870,000 fewer losses than in 2014, according to Leichtman research. On the other hand telecom operators had their worst year since they started offering IPTV in 2006, with around 1.17 million fewer net additions than in 2014. The US's thirteen biggest pay TV providers, representing around 95 percent of the market, lost some 385,000 net video subscribers in 2015, compared to a loss of about 150,000 in 2014 and some 100,000 a year earlier.
