The US Commerce Department announced that it would start posting digital trade experts at embassies in a pilot programme intended to help steer US businesses through foreign internet rules when transferring data or selling digital products abroad. US commerce secretary Penny Pritzker told Reuters that the so-called "digital attaches" will rely on "on-the-ground expertise" to provide export assistance, calling this "a new area that needs more specialized attention". The pilot programme covers six to eight markets, including Brazil, China, Japan, India, the EU and ASEAN.
