US defense labels Huawei, China Mobile as military controlled companies

The US government has determined Huawei Technologies, China Mobile, China Telecom and other Chinese tech companies such as Hikvision are owned or controlled by the Chinese military, laying the groundwork for new sanctions, Reuters reports. They are on a list compiled by the Department of Defense of 20 companies operating in the US that are thought to be backed by the Chinese military.
