US Dept of Housing charges Facebook with discrimination in housing ad practices

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) said it is charging Facebook with violating the Fair Housing Act. The government body said the company encouraged, enabled and even caused housing discrimination through its advertising platform. The charge follows an investigation earlier launched by HUD and which yielded a formal complaint, filed in August, alleging that Facebook's ad practices unlawfully discriminate based on race, colour, national origin, religion, familial status, sex, and disability.
