US, EU5 mobile penetration hits 91% - Kantar

Mobile penetration in the US and Europe's big five countries (EU5) has reached 91 percent, with 65 percent of Americans, 74 percent of Europeans and 72 percent of urban Chinese consumers owning a smartphone, according to a report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. Market saturation has reached such a level that the days of double-digit smartphone growth are clearly over, said the report, which adds that smartphone life cycles are also getting longer, increasing from 18.3 months to 20.4 months over the past two years in the EU5. As a result, the report predicts that sales of smartphones in 2016
