US govt asked to give FISA role to 'citizen's privacy board'

The US government will consider authorising the creation of a "citizen's privacy board" to ponder whether opponents of US spying programmes should be heard before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, as recommended by a former judge on the secret court established under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). The government should seriously consider changing how the court operates, according to the chairman of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, David Medine.
