US ISPs warn FCC against increased regulation of internet

The CEOs of the US' top broadband providers have sent a letter to the FCC warning against imposing additional regulation on internet services, saying this would limit their ability to invest in networks and expand broadband coverage. The letter comes ahead of the FCC's 15 May meeting when it will consider a new proposal for net neutrality rules. The ISPs fear the regulator will decide to reclassify internet services as a utility, allowing it to subject internet to similar access and price regulations as fixed telephony.
