US orgs want Congress to let FCC begin broadband plan

US civil rights, labour, and environmental organisations want Congress to clarify the Federal Communication Commission's authority to protect an Open Internet and apply Universal Service funding to broadband. The organisations said that the US continues to lag behind the rest of the world in high-speed networks, hampering economic growth and development, and that Congress has to act quickly to support the FCC, so that the it can move forward on implementating its National Broadband Plan.
