US pay-TV operators lost over 5 mln subscribers in 2020

The largest pay-TV providers in the US – accounting for around 95 percent of the market – lost some 5.12 million net video subscribers in 2020, according to the latest data from Leichtman Research Group. The number of subscribers shed last year represents around 5.9 percent of the total base and is up from a 4.80 million net loss in 2019, said the report, adding that the loss was higher than any previous year.
