US pay-TV subscriber losses accelerate in Q3, pulled down by cable, satellite

The top pay-TV providers accounted for 90.3 million subscribers, with the top six cable companies taking 47.1 million subscribers, satellite TV services taking 29.9 million, the top telephone companies holding 9.1 million and the top internet-delivered pay-TV services having 4.2 million. Compared to the previous quarter, the losses came mainly from the cable companies, which still had 47.4 million subscribers at the end of Q2, and satellite TV services, which still had 30.6 million. Subscriber numbers were unchanged for telephone and internet delivered services.
