US Q2 smartphone shipments up 11% from Q1, Apple's market share jumps

Vendors shipped 31.9 million smartphones in the US in the second quarter of 2020, down 5 percent year on year but up 11 percent from the previous three-month period, according the latest study from Canalys. Apple's US market share jumped to 47.1 percent in the period from 40.8 percent a year earlier, thanks to a 15 percent increase in sales of the iPhone 11 compared with 2019's equivalent model and also to the budget iPhone SE line. Samsung maintained market share but the value of its phones fell.
