US senators raise concerns over LG Uplus, Huawei deal

Two US Senators have expressed concern about a deal between a South Korean mobile operator and Chinese telecom equipment vendor Huawei Technologies. Dianne Feinstein and Robert Menendez, the chairs of the Senate's intelligence and foreign affairs committees, have said in a letter that "maintaining the integrity of telecommunications infrastructure" is critical to the alliance between the US and South Korea, The Financial Times reports. Huawei was reportedly contracted to build a nationwide network for LG Uplus. The letter said that as the two countries' militaries and intelligence agencies
