Thursday 24 October 2013 | 16:42 CET | News
The US Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, has described a recent article in France's Le Monde newspaper about the US National Security Agency recording data from millions of phone calls in a 30-day period as being "false". Clapper said in a statement released on 22 October, "Recent articles published in the French newspaper Le Monde contain inaccurate and misleading information regarding US foreign intelligence activities. The allegation that the National Security Agency collected more than 70 million 'recordings of French citizens' telephone data' is false".
