US to create tech task force to address anticompetitive practices, review mergers

The Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition said it will be creating a task force to monitor competition in the tech sector in the US. The task force will investigate potential tech monopolies and, with 17 staff attorneys, have the power to take enforcement action. It will also have the power to consult on other tech-related matters such as merger reviews, including past, or "consummated" mergers.
