Utrecht brings free Wi-Fi to shopping areas

The city of Utrecht has launched free Wi-Fi at the shopping centres Woonboulevard, Smaragdplein, De Biltstraat and Vleuterweide. The network is provided by Ziggo, which placed Wi-Fi routers in the local street cabinets of its cable network. The hotspots can be identified by an orange cap on the street cabinets. Utrecht also recently awarded a contract to City Wireless to bring free Wi-Fi to the city centre; that network is expected to start in early 2015.
