The Digicel Group has announced the appointment of Alexander Matuschka Greiffenclau as its new CEO, succeeding Colm Delves with effect from February 2018. Greiffenclau has served as chief performance officer at Veon since 2015 and was previously chief transformation officer at Nokia Networks. "Given his telecommunications credentials and his experience of working in dynamic and transforming sectors, he’s a natural fit for our business," said Digicel Group founder and chairman Denis O'Brien.
Delves is stepping down from his executive role for personal and family reasons but will remain as a non-executive director and will also provide advisory services to the group. In a statement, Digicel said the company has grown under Delves’ leadership from USD 478 million revenues in eight markets to USD 2.5 billion revenues across 32 markets over the past 13 years.
Veon Group confirmed that Matuschka will leave the company at the end of this year. Veon said Matuschka has contributed to the group's improved financial performance over the past 2.5 years.
