Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), part of Liberty Global’s Latin American and Caribbean group (LiLAC), has announced that its current Chief Executive John Reid will step down at the start of next year, with a new CEO to be appointed “in due course”. Reid has held executive positions in the Caribbean and Latin America for the past 13 years and was part of the leadership team that helped integrate CWC with Colombus International, the company it acquired for USD 1.85 billion in November 2014. He was named CWC chief executive a year ago, tasked with readying the company to be part of LiLAC, which is due to be split-off next month and headed by current Liberty CTO Balan Nair.
Rival Caribbean telecommunications group Digicel also announced this week that its CEO, Colm Delves, will be stepping down early next year, to be replaced by Alexander Matuschka Greiffenclau.
